Since 1985, Please Touch Museum’s Book Award has recognized unique and innovative examples of storytelling for young children in two categories based on the age of the museum’s visitors: kids ages seven and under. As the nation’s only children’s museum to offer this type of award, Please Touch Museum is committed to sharing the year’s most outstanding books for young children with its audience.
By discovering and promoting these excellent books for children, the museum hopes to instill in our young visitors a life-long love of reading, and an appreciation for the joys of all types of storytelling, as it is never too early to introduce a child to the discovery of books.
The Book Award is given exclusively to children’s books written by an American author and published by an American publisher during the preceding year, and is judged by a diverse panel of qualified professionals.
