Since 1985, Please Touch Museum's Book Award has highlighted unique and innovative examples of storytelling for young children. As the nation's only children's museum to present this type of award, Please Touch Museum is committed to sharing the year's most outstanding children's books with our audience. By recognizing these books, we hope to help children discover the joys of reading with their families, a practice which can foster a life-long pursuit of learning.
The Award is given each year to two books, in two categories based on the age of our visitors: a selection for children ages 3 and Under, and for children ages 4 to 7. The Award is given exclusively to books written by an American author and published by an American publisher during the preceding year, and are chosen by a panel of educators. The Founding Sponsor of Please Touch Museum's Book Award is The Albert M. Greenfield Foundation.
